I knew when we were planning our wedding, flowers were a must but I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on them. HAH! Who was I kidding… We did spend a lot but compared to what flowers typically cost we got one heck of a deal + our florist did a couple tricks to make it look like there were way more flowers around than there actually were. In this blog post, I will be sharing all the details on my bridal bouquet, bridesmaids flowers, groom & groomsmen boutonnières as well as father of the bride’s, tips & tricks my florist did to keep us around our budget, and then finally what we spent on flowers!

BRIDAL BOUQUET
When I saw my bridal bouquet my jaw literally dropped… Everything I wanted and had visualized came to life thanks to my florist, Kendra. I shared a couple of inspiration photos I found on Pinterest that were similar to what I wanted but not exactly. I feel like having a couple photos of the vibe your wanting is a great place to start when sharing your ideas with your florist. I had about three photos and she asked me what I liked about each one and then because she knew my venue, dress color, and overall vibe extremely well, she was then able to create this beauty you see before you!
I feel like I gave her a ton of freedom when creating this bouquet because I trusted her and completely stalked her work on her website and Instagram account — that’s how I chose a lot of my vendors to be completely honest, so if they didn’t have an Instagram account… I was a little weary or disregarded them. Okay, back to the details — I told my florist I wanted muted greens like eucalyptus, little pampas grass pieces, cappuccino roses, pops of dark purple, and other darker tones. I still can’t believe that’s all I told her and she was able to create this!!! I could go on and on about this but I’ll spare you, haha!
BRIDESMAIDS BOUQUETS
For my gorgeous bridesmaids, she basically made mini versions of my bouquet but added flowers that weren’t in my bouquet to make them a little more unique. At first the bouquets had way more flowers in them in my florists’ initial quote which we toned down a lot. Don’t be afraid to tell your florist what you want and if they have to change some things up beforehand it should be totally fine. My florist was never annoyed or frustrated by changing my quote to get the price down. All of my bridesmaids bouquets we ended up using for table toppers too — which I’ll touch on more below.
FLOWER GIRL BOUQUET & PEDALS
My sweet baby flower girl was absolutely precious during our wedding — I mean just look at these photos below! Our florist created the cutest little bouquet she tied onto the basket I actually got from Amazon. Shop it here! I also had previously got her some cute gifts to ask her to be my flower girl from Amazon. I swear they have the best stuff! I got Andie (our flower girl) the cutest little “A” necklace here and then an adorable book explaining what a flower girl is that included the flower crown here. The petals our florist used were from cappuccino roses that were incorporated in all our other florals and made the entire experience just perfect.
GROOM, GROOMSMEN, MAN OF HONOR, & FATHER OF THE BRIDE BOUTONNIÈRES
Boutonnières are something you absolutely don’t need — I want to stress that! We decided to go with them for the bare minimum people that would be in a lot of photos. Again, you don’t need to have boutonnières. The first quote I received from our florist had just about everyone, even moms with boutonnières. I talked with my mom about it and she was like I don’t want to pin something on my dress and that seems so expensive.
I came back to my florist and let her know I only wanted the groom, groomsmen, man of honor, and father of the bride wearing boutonnières. In addition, I wanted to cut down the amount of flowers on them — they were absolutely stunning but we didn’t need THAT many flowers. The overall final product for boutonnières ended up beautiful! Andrew’s had two cappuccino roses whereas the groomsmen and my dad only had one. Then my brother, the man of honor had a boutonnières that was more similar to the bridesmaids bouquets since he was on their side during the ceremony.
CEREMONY DECOR
I feel like the biggest key to wedding decor is choosing a venue that is beautiful on its own. Our venue was freaking stunning and didn’t need a ton of decor or flowers to spruce it up. Honestly, we could have done nothing in our outside ceremony space and it would have been gorgeous. The inside was beautiful too, but enough on the venue. I have an entire blog post on that here. I knew I wanted to incorporate those pretty awkward shaped pastel pumpkins into our decor, especially outside. I loved the way our wedding planner put them in clumps at each row of seats along with the big bouquets of pampas grass. The overall aesthetic was exactly what I had pictured in my mind. Regarding the pumpkins, my mom and I actually collected them during the month of October from Walmart, HEB, and even Kroger!
TABLE FLORALS
For table florals, I found that it was hella expensive to have florals at the ceremony, florals for all the bridesmaids, and then also have flowers on the tables for the reception. When you’re chatting with your florist, let them know your budget or at least a rough budget… If there’s anything I learned from paying for a wedding is that you will go over budget.. It’s just inevitable. However, we tried our best to not go over budget a significant amount. That being said, this is why you want to make sure you have a florist that wants your best interest and doesn’t overcharge you. My florist was amazing — she didn’t want to over-charge me and came up with creative ways to make my vision for florals come to life. All of my bridesmaid’s bouquets we used as table top florals in these pretty wooden boxes she already had. A couple of them ended up spread out around our venue too — like on our candy table.
Pro tip: find a florist who has a ton of their own stuff they’ll let you use. My wedding planner, Kendra, actually did our florals so she had a ton of things for us to use free of charge from her wedding planning business such as random decor, etc. This was the same with our venue — they had tons of decor we could use. The big candle holder pictured below was not mine! I actually have no idea whose that was haha! Kendra actually used the pampas grass bouquets pictured below from another event she had going on and didn’t charge us. She said that the pumpkins aligning the aisle needed something more so she just brought these and then used them for table toppers too where we needed additional florals that the bridesmaids bouquets couldn’t cover.
RECEPTION SPACE DECOR & FLORALS
Scattered throughout our reception space we had additional little bouquets of greenery, loose eucalyptus (which is super affordable by the way), little hodge-podge bouquets, and some bigger bouquets. I loved that my florist took my vibe and style and truly shined in her creation of these bouquets. I dropped some things off at Kendra’s house a couple days before the wedding I wanted to be included in the decor and she showed me flowers she had from other events or ended up with she thought would be perfect for our wedding. The far right bouquet has little green flowers that she said reminded her of witch fingers and I just LOVED that! It made me feel so good about the big day knowing she COMPLETELY understood our vision for our big day - spooky chic! Which I might add was not the case with everyone… Vendors we interviewed heard “spooky chic” and immediately went to Halloween tacky… and that was not what we wanted. We even showed vendors inspiration photos but a lot of them — well most of them — didn’t get it. So when you’re interviewing or chatting with vendors make sure they KNOW your vision through and through.
CAKE FLORALS & CAKE TABLE
For our cake we wanted to include the same flowers being used in our decor to tie everything cohesively together. Our florist provided the flowers and our baker put them on the cake. TOTAL COST OF FLORALS
While writing all about my wedding on my blog I want to be SUPER transparent. I feel like a lot of individuals getting married or honestly the wedding industry is hush hush and I want to share what everything actually cost us. As previously mentioned, my wedding planner does florals too and when you sign on to do florals with her you get a discount of 15% off I believe. There was also a minimum amount you had to spend on flowers of $2500, believe but I’m not completely sure. She was able to waive that for me because there was no way I was going to spend $2500 on flowers… oh how I was young and naive. The first floral & decor proposal we received was quoted for $4,496.50! So… I read through everything and some things we weren’t even having in our wedding so make sure you read every single proposal thoroughly before signing or paying anything! I made notes of what we wouldn’t be needing from her along with what we were axing because it was too expensive she sent over a new floral & decor proposal of $3,409.88. This cost covered: Bridal Bouquet, 9 Bridesmaids Bouquets, 1 Man of Honor Boutonnière, 1 Flower Girl Bouquet & petals, Groom's Boutonnière, Groomsmen Boutonnières, Loose Eucalyptus Greenery, Cake Flowers, Toss Bouquet, 15 Tablecloth rentals, 15 Table runner rentals, 100 Napkin rentals, & 15 Table stand rentals. I also think Kendra waived the installation fee for us too so take that into consideration of the cost.
Overall, we were so pleased with our beautiful flowers and at the end of the day the price was worth it for the insanely beautiful photos. However, I’m super into photos so that was a must for me.
