About Me
I wasn’t always a social media marketer…
From a very young age, I swore I would work in fashion. I dreamed of working in New York as a designer or buyer and even went to college for fashion initially. Clearly, that did not pan out and I ended up pursuing business and communication. While attending college I fell into an internship with Magnolia (yes Chip and Jo Magnolia) running their social media and couldn’t believe how influential they were online. I grew up taking photos and being obsessed with photography so when I would snap a photo for their social media and post it, it was amazing how I could connect with SO many people I had never met. That’s what initially sparked my love for social media and business. I wanted to be the one people were connecting with… thus my blog was born.
Tannawasilchak.com began as a place to share my affordable fashion finds over 8 years ago! While the website began as primarily a fashion blog, it has since evolved into a lifestyle showcase featuring travel, food, recipes, blogging tips & tricks, and more. During this time, I was able to land awesome internships working for companies running their social media accounts, lived in New Zealand working for an SEO company, graduated college, and started working at a marketing agency running HUGE accounts, like Under Armour, Carhartt, Pelican, & more, and finally was the director of social media at a 4-year university, all while balancing owning my own business. The hustle was REAL and the coffee was always flowing.
Now I run a business helping individuals reach their goals in social media marketing, travel the world, work with my dream brands, and get to spend more time with family. The hustle is still very REAL and the coffee is still always flowing.
Frequently Asked Questions
When did you start blogging?
I started blogging in June of 2014. WOW, that was a long time ago. I created my blog as a place to share my fashion ideas and experiences, and honestly to de-stress in college because my life was hectic and riddled with stressors. I never liked writing because I was always told it wasn’t good enough, it was too relaxed and improper. I always wanted my space on the internet to be that way. I wanted to create a place where my readers could truly feel like I was talking to them so I write exactly how I speak!
Is blogging your full-time job?
For the most part, yes! I can’t even begin to believe I blog for a living. I LOVE being a digital content creator and entrepreneur. I get to be as creative as I’ve always wanted to be and make a living traveling too! I’m seriously living my dream and I feel like I’m just getting started.
What did you do before blogging?
I worked at a marketing agency right out of college as a social public relations operations manager and did everything there is to do with social media accounts and influencer marketing. Additionally, I worked at the University of Tulsa as the social media director and now I freelance travel write on my website or for various clients.
Where did you go to college and what did you get your degree in?
I went to Baylor University in Waco, TX, and majored in Corporate Communication with a minor in Entrepreneurship.
Where do you live?
Andrew & I moved to Washington State in July of 2022 for Andrew’s work. Prior to that, we were in Houston, TX, and then Tulsa, OK for my and his work. I’m originally from a small town in Texas near DFW.
Who takes your photos?
For the most part, Andrew! I grew up taking photos and LOVE photography but I was never in front of the camera so teaching someone else to shoot on my camera was a little tricky but we finally got it down! If Andrew isn’t taking my photos, my brother, mom, or tripod will. Again, we’re all self-taught and haven’t taken any photography classes.
What camera do you have?
I have a Nikon D5600 with a professional 20mm lens I use most often but I have a 50mm and 35mm I use a lot too. I also have a Sony Alpha 6700 with a 16-50mm lens. Find all my camera gear below.
How tall are you?
I get asked this question all the time when it comes to individuals interested in the clothing I’m wearing or talking about. I’m 5’2 and 145 pounds. I have thicker thighs for my frame and a smaller chest on top. See my full style guide here.
