ARE THE LITTLE SAHARA SAND DUNES WORTH IT?

While visiting Utah I had heard about the different sand dunes around the state and prayed there would be some on our Utah excursion! Boy, was my wish granted. We passed right by the Little Sahara Sand Dunes on our way to Zion from Salt Lake City!

ABOUT LITTLE SAHARA SAND DUNES

I always love sharing a little history about the places I travel and Little Sahara Sand Dunes are pretty freaking awesome!

Little Sahara Recreation Area is 60,000 acres of sagebrush flats, juniper-covered hills, and free moving sand dunes located in Juab County, Utah. Less than a two-hour drive from Salt Lake City, LSRA provides an experience unlike any other for OHV fun and camping. Visitors frequent the recreation area for the challenges of climbing the 700-foot tall Sand Mountain, network of dirt trails around Black Mountain, low-lying dunes for beginners, and the White Sand Dune bowls. Read more from the Bureau of Land Management’s website here.

DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO GO TO THE SAND DUNES?

Yes! It’s $18 a vehicle per night. They accept cash and card!

WHERE ARE THE SAND DUNES LOCATED?

We drove from Salt Lake City to the Sand Dunes and the trip was easy and beautiful! It’s crazy because the sand dunes came out if nowhere. It was very much all of a sudden, which was pretty cool.

CAN YOU DRIVE ON THE SAND DUNES?

Yes! We didn’t while we were there because we were in a rental Jeep but there were a ton of people on dirt bikes and dune buggies. Next time we visit, we’re renting a dune buggy because oh man, it was the coolest! Be sure to check out my video to see footage of people driving on the dunes.

PROTIP: the sand gets HOT! Don’t be a dingus like me and take your shoes off. You will burn your feet!

BE RESPECTFUL AND LEAVE NO TRACE!

There are numerous trash cans and public bathrooms in the park, so when you visit be respectful as always!
