THE MOST UNIQUE PLACE TO STAY IN THE DINOSAUR CAPITAL OF TEXAS -- GLEN ROSE
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT STAYING AT THE LA TOUR AT SKYBOX CABINS IN GLEN ROSE
Glen Rose, Texas holds a special place in my heart because it’s actually my hometown! I lived there from the time I was born to 18 years old so when I found out about these gorgeous cabins in the hill country of my favorite little city I just had to visit. Skybox Cabins has five incredibly unique cabins that make you want to stay in a different one every time you visit. We started our stay in the beautiful Birdhouse cabin which makes you feel like you're staying in a treetop cabin and then moved over to this chic cabin named La Tour.

What is the history of La Tour at Skybox Cabins?
Skybox Cabins has five incredibly unique cabins that make you want to stay in a different one every time you visit. Be sure to read about my review of The Birdhouse Cabin here. Located on a ridge and surrounded by two large red oaks, La Tour opened in July of 2018. The design was born from conversations that the owner had with his grandfather about the 17th-century French Pigeonniers. The rustic exterior is balanced with an industrial but warm interior. Guests can enjoy two balconies, indoor and outdoor eating options, and a kitchenette with amenities that are perfect for those looking for a longer stay. That’s a big thing for me when staying in more remote cabins — having the ability to cook meals with pots and pans that are provided to guests.
What does the outside space look like?
This cabin felt so chic, y’all. I absolutely didn’t feel like I was in the woods of my hometown when walking into this peach-colored beauty. The thing about Skybox cabins is that they’re truly an oasis where you can kick back, relax, and most importantly disconnect. That being said, there is zero wifi and not a lot of service so be prepared for that. I kinda wish they would add wifi so you can look things up on your phone or remote work. I mean imagine working on your laptop on the balcony or outside on the swing here — 100% vibes. They just recently added a little hot tub too which was SO needed or at least I think so, haha!
What does the communal space look like in La Tour?
When you first walk in you’re hit with fresh bright colors that instantly make you smile. The space is obviously small but yet feels so spacious because the ground floor includes a living room, kitchenette, space to eat, and balcony. I don’t know how else to explain it but you don’t feel crowded by items in the area. This cabin had more of a living room and space to gather inside vs. The Birdhouse so that’s something to consider when booking. The kitchenette is fully stocked in this cabin too — which y’all know I’m all about the snacks!
What is the bedroom like in the cabin?
Upstairs you’ll find the cutest bedroom with the iconic La Tour name over the bed. My favorite part of the room was this gorgeous swing! I feel like it’s one of those things you’ll never actually put in your house so it was awesome to take advantage while staying. I think I always said “I’m going to have this in my house” multiple times and then never did because of the logistics haha! The bedroom also had its own private balcony with that incredible Texas hill country view. Behind the wall along the bed is the bathroom which I thought was a cool way to hide it. The designer in me was like “I like this”. There were numerous amenities in La Tour just as there were in The Birdhouse which I just SO appreciate. The owners absolutely pay attention to details to ensure guests are happy and satisfied.
Our overall review of La Tour
La Tour was so vastly different from The Birdhouse in the best ways. I would absolutely stay in both properties but I will say if you want more of an inside space to hang out that’s not in the bedroom then you’ll want to go with La Tour when comparing the two. I still need to stay in The Nest, The Hive, and their newest property The Glamp to really compare them all. Would you stay here?
