LIVE LIKE A BIRD AT SKYBOX CABINS IN GLEN ROSE, TEXAS

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT STAYING AT THE BIRDHOUSE AT SKYBOX CABINS IN GLEN ROSE

Glen Rose, Texas holds a special place in my heart because it’s my hometown! I lived there from the time I was born to 18 years old so when I found out about these gorgeous cabins in the hill country of my favorite little city I just had to visit. Skybox Cabins has five incredibly unique cabins that make you want to stay in a different one every time you visit. We started our stay in the beautiful Birdhouse cabin which makes you feel like you're staying in a treetop cabin!

What is the history of The Birdhouse at Skybox Cabins?

Launched in June of 2017, The Birdhouse is the original cabin. This treehouse-inspired cabin features a second-floor entry via a bridge from a tree-top platform. Using cedar from their property, the interior stairs and railing were all cut and placed by hand. The Birdhouse also features a second-floor balcony, a small kitchenette, and a covered outdoor patio complete with a fire pit and lounge seating. It’s ultimately a place to relax, enjoy good company, and embrace nature.

What is the bedroom like in the cabin?

When you first walk in, you’ll see a stunning bedroom accompanied by a balcony you’ll want to sit out on during your whole stay. I had dinner out there as well as coffee the next morning and just couldn’t get ENOUGH. The bed was very comfortable and I really liked how spacious this area was — especially for a treehouse. They’re usually smaller and a bit more cozy.

Where are the best places to eat in Glen Rose?

In the evening, the balcony glows with twinkle lights making it the perfect little spot for wine, dinner, snacks, you name it. We decided to grab some pizza from my favorite Glen Rose spot - Simple Simons. Be sure to check out my full guide on places to eat in Glen Rose from a local who knows where to go. A lot of places come and go in Glen Rose because it’s a small town but the places that last are truly beloved.

What amenities are available in the cabins?

On the lower level of The Birdhouse, you’ll find a kitchenette featuring a mini fridge, microwave, Keurig, coffee, and lots of snacks. I don’t know about you but I LOVE when places you stay provide snacks. It’s just such an easy and special touch that truly does mean a lot. I also think because you’re about 15-20 minutes from town it’s nice to have these little snacks in case you forgot some or don’t want to drive to a gas station or the grocery store.

In addition to the kitchen area, you’ll find the unique shower, toilet, and sink. The toilet is situation behind a barn door under the stairs near the shower. There are plenty of products in the bathroom such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, and a specific makeup towel. I know it seems like these should always be included but you’d be surprised at how many places I’ve stayed where they haven’t had it all.

Our overall review of The Birdhouse

There’s also a side entrance to the lower level from outside that leads to an area with a firepit, table, and some chairs to relax and enjoy nature. At night, be sure to look up because Glen Rose is a wonderful place to see all the stars. It’s something I miss every day because I truly grew up so spoiled being able to see the stars and planets so clearly. Overall, we loved our time at The Birdhouse. Be sure you also read my other review of their property La Tour here. I will say one thing I would love to see in the future is wifi… it’s rough because this area doesn’t have the best cell service and wifi would help balance that as well as make these cabins a destination for remote workers. However, I did like being able to fully disconnect and relax in my favorite small town. We’ll absolutely stay here again — maybe in The Nest or The Hive or their newest property The Glamp.

Would you stay at Skybox Cabins?
