STAY THE NIGHT IN A BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAIN SIDE RESORT IN THE WASATCH MOUNTAIN RANGE

There aren't many places where you can truly escape from it all, but Utah's Sundance Mountain Resort is one of those places. Nestled at the base of Mount Timpanogos, the second-highest peak in Utah's Wasatch Range, Robert Redford's Sundance Mountain Resort is home to a year-round mountain community. The focus on preservation is apparent in details throughout the property, such as the hand-made bar soap in rooms and the chargers at restaurants made from recycled glass. There is also an art studio onsite where you can craft your own leather journal or learn to make souvenirs like soap, candles, and jewelry. Additionally, Sundance Mountain Resort wants you to experience nature at its’ finest with numerous activities on site such as riding Ray’s & Red’s lifts to the only mountaintop lodge in Utah, enjoying a spectacular 360-degree view of Heber and Utah Valleys + the surrounding Wasatch Mountains, or taking a Sundance Zip tour through the mountain — but wait, there’s more! They offer mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, fly fishing, and even mountaintop yoga.

I had the amazing opportunity to experience the wonders of Sundance Mountain Resort and wanted to share my absolute MUSTS DO’s while staying on site.

WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE AT SUNDANCE MOUNTAIN RESORT

We had the amazing opportunity to stay in a gorgeous Sundance Suite. Suites are perfect for a romantic getaway or a little more room for an extra guest or an extended stay. Kitchenettes are available in the Sundance Suites for storing drinks and snacks or even enjoying a simple in-room meal. We absolutely utilized the fridge for all our road trip snacks and even heated up leftovers to enjoy in the room.

ABSOLUTELY MUST DO’S AT SUNDANCE MOUNTAIN RESORT

GRAB BREAKFAST & COFFEE AT THE SUNDANCE DELI

The Sundance Deli is open daily 7:00 am – 9:00 pm making it perfect to grab a late night snack or an early morning coffee before heading on a hike. The Sundance Deli, located in the heart of the village, showcases a variety of made-to-order sandwiches and salads, house made baked goods, smoothies, coffee and espresso. I 100% recommend the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel. I swear Sundance knows what’s going on when it comes to food. From the main restaurant to the deli the food is 11/10!

HEAD OVER TO THE INFAMOUS SUNDANCE GENERAL STORE

The Sundance General Store is one of my favorite places to waste time before a dinner reservation or honestly just for fun. They have the comfiest t-shirts, the most beautiful jewelry (I have about 5 rings from Sundance), and the cutest clothing! If you’re looking for a unique gift for a friend or family member, this is a wonderful place to find a unique gift they’re sure to love and remember.

RIDE THE LIFTS TO A SPECTACULAR VIEW

During the summer, experience panoramic views of the mountains as you glide to the top of Ray’s Summit on a scenic lift ride. The scenic lift ride was an experience I didn’t think would be anything special and it was truly the highlight of my stay! Both lift rides take about 45 minutes total to reach the top of the mountain and will quite literally take you breath away… because of Utah’s beauty and also that elevation be rough.😂 Once you reach the top, take time to explore designated hiking trails or just sit and enjoy the mountain’s tranquil beauty. Be sure you check out the different lift ride options because in addition to a day ride they have special full moon lift rides too! I highly recommend grabbing a coffee or tea from Sundance Deli, purchasing your lift tickets online, then enjoying your coffee with a view all the way to the top. This is definitely an experience you’ll want to gram!⛰

HAVE A DRINK AT THE ONLY MOUNTAINTOP LODGE IN UTAH

Once you’ve reached the top of the lift, get ready to relax, and grab a drink at the only mountaintop lodge in Utah — Bear Claw! Check that off your bucket list! Enjoy tacos, burritos, nachos and drinks while taking in the spectacular 360-degree views of Heber and Utah Valleys and the surrounding Wasatch Mountains. There were numerous places to sit inside but we grabbed a table outside to enjoy the incredible view, which certainly looked like a painting… Have you ever been to a place that looks fake? That’s what this view looked like to us. I could have sat there and stared at it all day — but why do that when you can get adventurous?! Did you know Sundance Mountain Resort offers zip-lining down the mountain… yes, I said zip-lining! Check out all the information on zip lining at Sundance Mountain Resort here. Throw on that cute athleisure outfit and get ready to experience nature like never before!

HIKE OR BIKING THE GORGEOUS ALPINE TRAILS

Sundance Mountain Resort offers over 10 miles of alpine trails for the beginner to the expert hiker.🏞 Take a casual lift ride up and enjoy a scenic trail back to the base or get your daily workout by hiking up to the summit and riding the chair back down. What I loved about the resort is that they offered complementary guided hikes to their guests as well. All you needed to do was make reservations by 5pm the evening prior. In addition to hiking, Sundance Mountain Resort offers 25+ miles of lift-serviced, single-track mountain biking with exciting terrain, and breathtaking vistas. Whether you’re in the mood for a leisure hike or an adventurous biking experience, Sundance Mountain Resort has got you covered!🚲

EAT AT THE FOUNDRY GRILL

The Foundry Grill offers the freshest foods cooked to order for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with beautiful views of the forest surrounding you. When I tell you that The Foundry Grill is one of the best places I’ve ever eaten, I mean it. Just thinking about it now is making my mouth water.. While visiting Utah about 7 years ago, I had the opportunity to eat at The Foundry Grill for dinner and oh my gosh… it was absolutely heavenly. We were nestled near the fireplace and it truly felt like I was in a cozy cabin in the woods but like a high class cabin! For main dishes, I highly recommend the pork chop and ribeye if you want your tastebuds to scream hallelujah!🙌 Breakfast was an entirely different vibe in the same restaurant — it was more upbeat and fun vs. cozy and moody at dinner. For breakfast, I highly highly highly recommend the Foundry Grill House Breakfast because it gives you a little bit of everything. When I tell you I had the best pancakes of my life here.. I mean that too. I have dreams about these delicious pancakes from Sundance Mountain Resort so if you like pancakes AT ALL, order them. Overall, The Foundry Grill is a foodies dream!

EXPERIENCE WINTER ACTIVITIES AT SUNDANCE

Experience the magic of winter at Sundance your own way. Sundance isn’t lacking when it comes to winter activities. From winter zip-lining, skiing, snowboarding, night skiing, snow shoeing, and more, you’re sure to have an incredible time while the snow falls around you! See the full list of winter activities here.

MUST-DO’S AROUND THE RESORT

HOMESTEAD CRATER AT HOMESTEAD RESORT

This amazing hidden hot springs is less than an hour away from Salt Lake City and right around the corner from Sundance Mountain Resort. The mineral rich water at Homestead Crater maintains a temperature of 90-96 degrees year-round and you can relax in the water year round! They offer snorkeling, soaking, scuba diving, and even paddle board yoga. If you just want to soak it’s only $12! I highly recommend emailing or calling to make a reservation as you most likely won’t be able to just show up and swim!

Utah is one of my absolute favorite states because of its vast landscapes and truly incredible views. Sundance Mountain Resort truly outdid themselves in my mind from location, food, rooms, and overall service.
