VALENTINE'S DAY PHOTOSHOOT IDEAS

These Valentine’s photoshoots were so fun to do!! I mean who doesn’t love buying party supplies, especially when they’re pink and red! I feel like people think that photoshoots like this are hard, but they’re SO EASY y’all. So… I’m going to share all my secrets and what you need to make the photoshoot come together and look awesome! Additionally, I’ve listed some of the tech I use like my Nikon remote to do the self timer, tripod, and more!

CHOCOLATE IN BED

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  1. Balloons

I snagged mine from Target, Amazon, and Party City! I also purchased a helium tank to blow most of them up because it ended up being A LOT cheaper.

  2. Tissue Paper

Honestly, anything festive will do. I snagged my stuff from the Target dollar section and JoAnns for this backdrop.

  3. Box of chocolates

YUMM. I definitely ate some of these while shooting.

PRO TIP: Coordinate your outfit to match the theme of everything. Some cute Valentine’s Day PJs would be great!

SUGAR RUSH

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  1. Wig or Cute Hairstyle

I got my wig from Amazon and I LOVE it. It’s so fun for photoshoots like this!

  2. CANDY

These little smooches from Candy Club were PERFECT and of course a red sucker.

  3. Festive Makeup

The red for my eyes just added something a little more! You could do a bright red or pink lip too.

PRO TIP: With everything happening on top, wear something to show off some skin. Keeps everything simple.

QUEEN OF HEARTS

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  1. Cards

You can get a deck of cards pretty much anywhere.

  2. Hot Glue Gun

This is my friend. I used it to glue the cards to the backdrop.

  3. Heart Stickers

These stickers are actually meant to seal envelopes! I got them in the party section at Target

PRO TIP: I glued two cards onto a wire hanger and had Andrew hold it up to the camera to create the blurred effect at the bottom of the frame.

HEART BALLOONS

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  1. Heart Balloons

I got these from Party City for $15 for 12! Unfortunately, I lost a lot of them on the way to this shoot because it was CRAZY windy!

  2. Fun Outfit

I decided to pull out one of my favorite pink dresses for this one to really draw attention to me!

PRO TIP: Check the weather before you walk about we a dozen balloons! It was about 50 degrees outside and extremely windy! Thankfully we were able to escape to the stairwell and create these shots.

FAKE FLOWERS

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  1. Fake Flowers

These were buy one get one at JoAnn’s Fabric and look a lot more real than most flowers! I feel like sometimes it’s great to get real flowers if you wanna have some around but it’s significantly easier to shoot with fake flowers and not have to worry about knocking them around.

  2. Simple Backdrop

Y’all won’t believe this, but the backdrop is the door to the trash chute at our apartment! Also, basic backgrounds like this can be photoshopped into a different patterned or colored background.

PRO TIP: ANGLES, ANGLES, ANGLES. Seriously, it’s all about changing it up and playing with angles or the focus of the photo.

THROW SOME GLITTER, MAKE IT RAIN

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  1. Confetti

I snagged this confetti from Michaels way back when for crafting and it’s great because it’s bigger pieces so it doesn’t go everywhere. Haha although I still am cleaning it up. Def cut a trash bag and stand on it while you blow or toss the glitter.

  2. Body Glitter

I love adding a little big of sparkle to my cheekbones or shoulders, if they’re showing, to add a little bit of pizazz.

  3. Wrapping Paper

This is actually left over Christmas wrapping paper! I just taped it to a wall and had a brand new background!

PRO TIP: Have fun with it! This was such a cool shoot to do because I could just let loose and blow glitter everywhere!

BATHTUBS AND BALLOONS

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  1. Balloons

I got these from Party City for $15 for 12! Unfortunately, I lost a lot of them on the way to this shoot because it was CRAZY windy!

  2. Glass of Wine or Juice

Having something to hold while shooting helps the photo look more natural! Also, it’s delicious to drink while I’m waiting to the camera to focus, haha!

  3. Candy or Other Props

Looking back at these photos, I’m so glad I added in the chocolate hearts. I feel like it just added a small bit of color to an empty area. I did have a chocolate heart box as well that I played around with so just try different things!

PRO TIP: LIGHTS! We had to have a lot of lighting for this shoot because our bathroom has ZERO windows which provide natural light. We used my ring light, selfie light, and flashlight on my phone + Lightroom presets to lighten everything up further. Also get sassy with it!! It’s such a fun shoot so make it your own!

PINK, PINK, & PINK

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  1. Pink OR Red OR White Outfit

This is such a simple and easy shoot that can come out awesome! Headshots would be really fun for this one too!

PRO TIP: Find a simple background to focus on the point of the photo, which is YOU!

STREAMERS

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  1. Party Streamers

SUCH A CHEAP PROP! I wasn’t too sure about what I should do with my hands for this one and decided to start throwing up the streamers to add a little fun with the focus. They ended up looking really cool! Don’t you think?

  2. Pom Poms

Honestly, I was not sure about gluing pom poms to my face but hey it looked pretty dope in the end too. Just go with it!

PRO TIP: Play around with posing, angles, and let loose. I feel like I keep saying that over and over again but it’s so true!
