ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE, FOR YOURSELF

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, I noticed many people sharing their plans with their significant other and what gifts they were going to buy them. I couldn’t help thinking about the Valentine’s Days I spent alone or in a fight with a significant other and wanted to share a little more on that because Valentine’s Day isn’t always this perfectly planned day we see on television shows or movies. First things first, Valentine’s Day is a silly holiday! Remember that. Please.

To all the individuals spending Valentine’s Day alone, know that you truly don’t NEED anyone to be happy on Valentine’s Day or any day of the year, for that matter!

Self love is the most important. Last year, I spent Valentine’s Day alone crying because I had made up this amazing day in my head and Andrew didn’t deliver, so I was mad at him. Crazy right?? Read all about that here. PS: it’s hilarious and absolutely ridiculous how I acted. BUT after publishing that blog post I found out many people have done this before and I wasn’t alone.

I’ve also spent countless Valentine’s Days with some of my best gal pals watching romantic comedies and I’ve even spent Valentine's Day alone eating chocolate on the couch completely content! One Valentine’s Day I spent with a significant other and had a great time and I’ve also had a horrible time with a significant other. Just remember it seriously is a silly holiday and what you do on that day doesn’t DEFINE you. There is always someone out there going through something similar to you. You’re never alone in your struggles. That’s why I really like to share my experiences to encourage others and show that we aren’t all perfect like social media sometimes portrays. Everyone goes through shit and this holiday can bring up a lot of emotions for people but I think the most important thing to remember is that you have to always LOVE yourself first before you can be happy. Even if you’re in a committed relationship, you can’t truly be happy unless you love yourself. WHICH IS HELLA hard by the way. Overall, what I’m trying to say is

Valentine’s Day can be whatever YOU make it.

Be alone and happy! Be with your best girlfriends and celebrate! Be with your significant other and have a great time!

DO YOU BOO.

ALSO know that you’re a QUEEN and you've always got someone in your corner rooting for ya!
