HOLDING TIGHT TO YOUR MORALS & VALUES

33 PLATFORMS TO USE TO LAND Paid Brand Collaborations (1).png

When I started my blog in 2014 I wasn’t seeing a lot of transparency. I felt as though most bloggers or influencers out there were saying they were “obsessed “ with every product, but were they really? It just seemed so fake in my eyes. Maybe some of them truly did love the product, how do I know for sure, ya know!? I’m not here to criticize either. I’m here to tell it how I saw it. I grew up reading reviews on reviews on reviews for products before i purchased them so seeing an influential individual only say they were obsessed with a product with no context pushed me to become what I wasn’t seeing as much, a blogger with A LOT to say. I decided to create my morals and values based off this. I pride myself on HONESTY and INTEGRITY!

As my Instagram and blog grew, I started seeing more and more influencers being transparent and thoroughly reviewing products!! I love it, because that’s the type of content I want to produce and see. It doesn’t just stop at reviewing products, it’s about sticking up for your brand at the end of the day. With the platform I’ve grown, I’m constantly thinking about myself as a resource and wanting to put out helpful reviews and recommendations for you guys. BUT it’s not always easy. Recently, I had an experience with a brand that I said I would work with then they started treating me poorly and being extremely unprofessional. I had promised them I would post on my Instagram but I couldn’t morally do so promoting a product I liked but didn’t like the brand. I just kept thinking that if even one of you guys went to this place and had a poor experience then I didn’t do my job.

Y’all this was so hard to do but I knew I had to stick to my gut and if I was going to pride myself on being honest and having integrity then I couldn’t work with this brand. I decided to mail back the product and pay the company $50 for the treatment they provided to me for free. Then, I was just like any other person and owed them nothing.

I truly want to encourage you all whether you’re an influencer or not, stick to your guns. Be the person you want to be, even in tough situations. Share your experiences and help others grow and hopefully not have to go what you went through.

YOUR MORALS MATTER! ALWAYS.

Love always,
