HOW TO EASILY POSE WITH A SCARF FOR AWESOME PHOTOS

Posing with scarves, or any fabric really, is about MOTION! Utilize the motion of the piece and it brings the photo to life! Just standing there with a pretty background and a pretty scarf is well.. pretty but we want MORE. We want to create a photo that someone stops scrolling on and is like “wow”.

For this photoshoot I wanted to bring the scarf to cover half my face to really make it about the scarf. This is great if the scarf is part of a collaboration too. Then I wanted to try a photo where I stood still and swung the scarf around. For this I needed my shutter speed on high to capture a crisp image of the scarf. This is seen in image 2 above. Next I wanted to swing my body and the scarf and see what kind of image it would produce. Sometimes you just gotta go for it. It might turn out lame or it might turn out really cool! I actually love how image 3 turned out! Finally I wanted to add some motion with my body and the scarf so I decided to run while moving the scarf with my arms seen in image 4 below.

I love capturing some videos of this process too! I typically run or just stand in one place and spin my arms around haha!

Most importantly, have fun with it! Photoshoots don’t have to be stressful. They can be really fun if you just embrace them. I loved this one so much because I was alone in nature watching a sunset doing something I love!

XOXO
