THE IN'S & OUT'S OF MICKEY'S NOT-SO-SCARY HALLOWEEN PARTY
Is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is worth the money?
As y’all know, Halloween is my all time favorite holiday so when I found out Disney World had a fun event for Halloween I basically threw my money at the computer! I was SO excited to make a trip back to Disney to celebrate Halloween in every festive way you could think up and more!. As you walk into the park you’re hit with the beautiful fall decorations! The pumpkins come to life before your eyes and you’re LITERALLY in Halloweentown!
Disney World throws a Halloween party called Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom that’s a separate ticketed event. I can’t remember the exact price of our tickets but they were around $100 per person. They kick everyone out who doesn’t have a ticket from 6:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. so the event is way less crowded than when the park is open to everyone. You are allowed to enter the park at 4:00 p.m. which was awesome because we had a 1 day ticket for Epcot that day and then headed over to Magic Kingdom and got in early with our special event ticket. If you do go in early, be sure to come back to the front around 5:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m to go through a special place they funnel everyone for the halloween party and pick up your trick or treat bag, take cute photos with special signs, grab some candy, and get a map of the park with treat station locations and the special food being offered. Y’all the candy they give while you trick or treat is AWESOME! None of that crappy candy at Disney! They give you the good stuff and a couple full sized pieces too! Typically the lines get fairly long waiting for the treat stations but they go by super fast so don’t let the long line discourage you. Overall, I definitely believe this ticketed event is worth the money.
Is there special themed food for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party?
The food during the party is INSANE. Disney World does not hold back. Make sure you grab one of those maps they’re handing out when you walk in because they list all the special food available and where they’re located. We read the description on the Lots-O-Burger and HAD to have it from Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café. It features a beef patty topped with brie fondue, strawberry-bacon jam, an onion ring, and a Lotso bun. Drooling? I am just thinking about it again. Andrew also grabbed a couple of S'mores too. They were like little pop tarts and super tasty. Don’t worry, those babies are available year round.
We grabbed these two delicious treats to snack on before the parade started. They were available at Sleepy Hollow. The first is the Headless Horseman Cheesecake which is pumpkin cheesecake layered with gluten-friendly chocolate cake, chocolate crunchies, orange glaze, and a Headless Horseman chocolate piece. The second is the Chocolate Mickey Waffle Sundae which is black chocolate waffles come topped with pumpkin gelato, candy corn, caramel sauce, and sprinkles. There are tables behind Sleepy Hollow that were great to sit down and chill at. Our legs were hurting after all the walking around.
Are the rides themed for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party?
Another pretty cool thing that happens at the party is that a couple of the rides turn into something a little but creepier! The Cinderella’s Castle glows a haunting purple, Space Mountain glows red, Pirates of the Caribbean takes you through a new adventure, and the Haunted Mansion gets extra exciting with a ghost out front entertaining! Haunted Mansion is one of the most popular rides of the night but we were willing to wait. The wait said about 45 minutes but it actually ended up being about 20!
Does Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party have special shows?
After you’ve trick or treated your heart out and explored the hauntingly new features on your favorite rides, head over to main street to see the Boo-to-You Halloween Parade This parade was literally incredible! You’re able to see your favorite characters in costumes and see the Disney villains take over for the night. Andrew, Jake, and I were skipping around the park singing our favorite Halloween theme songs having the BEST time!
Now let’s talk about the INCREDIBLE entertainment. There are 3 big events that happen during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party that you DO NOT want to miss.
The Boo to You Parade
I mentioned previously. Be sure to start lining the street early if you want a good view and you have little ones. We were okay with the back because Andrew and Jake are tall and I stood on a bench! There are two different times the parade goes on so if you want to ride some popular rides, I suggest skipping the 7:00 p.m. parade and seeing the one at midnight! Most people go to the first parade because they have young children that have a bed time haha.
Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular
This show was new this year and OH MAN was it amazing! Head to Cinderella’s Castle and get ready to be greeting by Jack Skellington himself. He comes out for about 3 minutes to talk to you and then heads back into the castle while the light show begins. The skies come alive with a Halloween spectacular featuring lasers, fireworks and more! We headed to the castle about 25 minutes before the show and were almost front row. At the end of the show, Jack comes back out and says goodnight. They truly made him look real and it was oh so spooky!
Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
Once the light show finished, we had 20 minutes to wait for the next show to start and were able to sneak up to the front row behind the handicap access (be sure to head to the front if you have any handicap needs) to see the Sanderson sisters sing and dance with all your favorite Disney villains. It was truly AMAZING!!
Overall, we had the BEST FREAKING TIME and can’t wait to come back next year for even more excitement and thrills!
