MY AFTER SHOWER ROUTINE
Growing up I was pretty basic with my skin and hair routine and by basic, I mean I did nothing. I shampooed and conditioned and then towel dried. I don’t even think I put on much lotion until about late high school. Ugh.. just thinking about that makes my skin shutter. It was probably screaming, “give me moisture!” I think I actually started using lotion because my dad would buy it for us from Whole Foods to *spoiler alert* put in our stockings for Christmas. So I should probably be thanking my dad, haha!
MY AFTER SHOWER ROUTINE
I realized how important it truly is to take care of your skin and hair when I came to college and was super active. I started breaking out a lot more and my hair was getting significantly drier. You don’t have to shell out a lot of money to have nice skin or hair though. I mean, yeah, you’re going to get better results when you pay for better products because they, for the most part, have better ingredients. BUT, I have yet to spend a ton of $$ keeping my skin glowing or my hair healthy. Research is key. I tend to get samples of some good products. Whether that be from Ipsy, Influenster, Ulta, or Sephora, then I search the ingredients for the products and find a cheaper product. It is a lot of work, but hey, if you have to save then it’s worth it. It’s funny because if 5 years ago Tanna could see my bathroom now that’s full of products she wouldn’t believe it was really my bathroom. I’ve now mastered my after shower routine. I’m pretty proud of myself, to be completely honest.
Bath & Body Works Lotion
First, I put on lots of lotion all over my body. I love the Bath & Body Works lotion. They have so many different options and almost ALWAYS have sales. Right now they have some lotions for as low as $3!!!
Makeup Remover Wipes
Second, I use my Neutrogenia makeup remover wipes because I always tend to have mascara running down my face after I shower. Even if I didn’t have mascara on, it some how still manages to be all over my face. I don’t know how, I don’t know why. I’ve used the Kirkland brand wipes before from Costco and from Target as well.
Hair Treatment
Third, is to treat my hair. I received this Bali Secret Hair Vitamin complimentary and was very skeptical at first. The serum comes in little red pill looking things you use every time you treat your hair. I was joking with a friend that it looks like you’re supposed to swallow them or something because they’re in a pill bottle, but that would be awful because of the shape. Just look at those things! Anyway, I’ve been using this product for about a month now every time I shower and man.. I kid you not my hair feels healthier. The serum has argan oil, avocado oil, macadamia nut oil, Vitamins A, C, E, and Pro-Vitamin B5. Uhhh yeah, there are a lot of great oils and vitamins packed into this tiny weird shaped pill. My hair is shinier and stronger after using this stuff for a month. What’s great is that it’s not too expensive to buy either.
Moisturizer
Fourth, ya girl moisturizes the crap out of her face. I’ve been flipping back and forth between two products for this. The First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream and the Belif true cream moisterising bomb (I did a full review on this here). You can use both before bed or before you apply your makeup, which is a plus. I’ve used some products in the past that prevent your makeup going on normally, but not these two.
Lip Balm
Finally, I add a little lip balm for some extra moisture and that’s it. These are my three favorite lip balms. I don’t think you’ll ever catch me without some in my pockets or bag.
What’s your after shower routine? I’d love to know!
Love Always,
